Refron was first established in 1950, and operated under the name of
Refrigeration Sales Co. Inc. until January 1, 1994, when we adopted our current,
shorter name. The company's original business was the sale and distribution of
refrigerants, and we have maintained this focus through the years. Our early
customers included steamship lines and other multi-location corporations who
required easy, fast delivery and one-source accountability for refrigerant
ordering, no matter where in the country it was needed. With an emphasis on fast
response, full inventories and a "can do" attitude, we have continued over the
years to expand our network of refrigerant stockpoints and our range of
customers.
More than 50 years later, Refron today services the refrigerant needs of
thousands of customers of all types, including small and large HVAC contractors,
facility owners, transportation companies, manufacturing facilities and
government agencies. Customers are serviced from our network of over 100
stockpoints coast-to-coast, from which they can receive free, next day delivery
of almost any refrigerant.
In the last few years, Refron has aggressively tackled the issues presented
by the CFC production ban. Many steps have been taken to provide you with a
smooth transition to the new refrigerants, and to save you money. These steps
include:
- Building the most comprehensive inventory of all the new EPA-approved alternative refrigerants and blends.
- Implementing a full-scale refrigerant reclamation facility and analytic testing laboratory, to support our customers' used refrigerant needs.
- Developing a wide range of programs for managing used refrigerants in a way that maximizes your savings.
- Building and making available to our customers an extensive library of technical publications on retrofits, and fact sheets on industry regulations, guidelines, and trends.
- Providing on-site refrigerant recovery services.
- Working actively with various industry and government task forces to promote refrigerant purity standards and regulations that enhance industry's ability to utilize refrigerants responsibly.
The Future...
At Refron, we don't simply meet future challenges; we attempt to anticipate
them. We are currently solving problems relating to the reclamation of the new
zeotropic blends, we already have available for you some of the future R-22
replacement refrigerants (R407C & R410A), and we have recently received a
research grant from the State of New York to investigate separation of CFC/HFC
mixtures. These and other initiatives are aimed at making sure we are prepared
to meet whatever your future refrigerant-related needs may be.
